  • Vacuum jar with bell is used for acoustic study, and provides a vacuum environment for conducting experiments to demonstrate that sound requires air to travel through--as air decreases inside the jar, sounds disappear.
  • The set includes an electric bell to generate sound during experiments, and the jar’s bottom flange has been ground flat for ensuring a tight seal.
  • The jar is made of durable acrylic, which is lightweight, and resists shattering, impact, and most non-abrasive cleaners including ammonia and strong detergents.
  • The jar requires a vacuum pump, and the bell operates on four 6V DC batteries (pump and batteries sold separately).
  • The set contains a bell jar, electric bell, and a rubber cork with terminals.
  • Rubber is highly elastic, and resists abrasion and impact forces.
  • The jar measures 23.0 x 14.0cm (H x L). (H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; L is length, the horizontal distance from left to right.)
  • The set is suitable for high school or college students, or ages 14 to 21.
